"she's moody and grey, she's mean and she's restless"

Arcadia - Election Day
When Duran Duran dissolved, they were at the absolute height of popularity. In hindsight, it would have been more interesting if they had done a "White Album" and just put all their own shit out on a Duran Duran album instead of the two efforts we got. Imagine the art-fuck of Arcadia mixed with the power-rock of Power Station on one effort - it would have been genius! Anyway, Arcadia kind of sucked with the exception of this single and maybe one or two other tracks. Big ups to Grace Jones for making a bizarre unintelligible cameo in the middle eight.

Power Station - Bang a Gong (Get it On)

God favored Arcadia, I always say. Three members of the Power Station team died young: singer Robert Palmer and the two members from Chic, drummer Tony Thompson and producer Bernard Edwards, leaving only the two Duran Duran members as survivors. They had other hits, but this cover of the T Rex classic is a stunner, taking the song in an unforeseen blend of 80s cock rock and R&B slickness (hello, Chic Organization). I still slip this into my DJ sets on a regular basis - last week I blew out the speakers with it - no lie!
